Flight Carbon Calculator
When we fly we are directly contributing to one of the fastest growing sources of green house gases. We need to understand this, reduce flying and where we still choose to fly – then we can choose to compensate for our CO2. This is the process of becoming a Carbon Balanced Flyer.
Please use the calculator below to understand your Carbon Footprint – your share of the amount of C02 produced from the aviation fuel consumed. ‘
CARBON BALANCING WITH C LEVEL – the right choice.
CLEVEL has been working since 2000 and were the first company to use the terms carbon footprint and carbon balancing to improve understanding of links between everyday activites and climate change.
CLEVEL adopts a hands on approach with our work, visiting projects to see the results on the ground directly and also generating our own innovative projects that break new ground (for example with the international charity Practical Action), flagship green building projects and also schools programmes (for example with the UKs Institute of Development Studies)
CLEVEL offers high value and quality Our compensation projects achieve very strong additionality, are monitored by global verification bodies (eg SGS and DNV) and achieve multiple benefits for local stakeholders.
CLEVEL regularly presents our work at national events and in the national media
CLEVEL offices are run off wind and solar power and we are currently self building new offices which will maximise the use of recycled materials, water harvesting and rammed earth. We can therefore put the highest possible percentage of your money directly to compensation projects.
We currently deliver our carbon compensation through energy efficient cook stove projects. Efficient cooking is delivered through the making, distribution and use of fuel efficient improved cooking stoves that both reduce fuelwood use and indoor smoke pollution. The projects are implemented by the global charity Practical Action and also by the French NGO, GERES(Groupe Energies Renouvelables Environment et Solidarites).
Practical Action was founded in 1966, as ITDG (the Intermediate Technology Development Group), by the radical economist Dr EF Schumacher to prove that his philosophy of ‘Small is Beautiful’ could bring real and sustainable improvements to people’s lives.
GERES was founded in 1976 by French engineers and academics. It is a not-for-profit organisation with a remit to alleviate poverty using renewable energy.
