REFORESTATION - THE LIMAY SOCIAL CARBON PROJECT

From 2010, CLEVEL is providing clients with Carbon Balancing through a new Social Carbon Reduction project. At the Limay Social Carbon Project in Nicaragua, we are originating high quality carbon compensation (offsets) according to Plan Vivo.
Our investments help small-scale farmers establish mixed species forest plantations on under used areas of their own land. A sustainable reforestation project is stronger if it provides direct benefit to local people and helps address the processes that lead to deforestation in the first place. The Limay project model takes into account the communities’ needs for food production, pastureland, timber and fuel wood.
Our project works closely with individual farmers and provides them directly with increased income from the international carbon markets. We are able to allocate a majority of the wholesale price to farmers, as specified for creditation under Plan Vivo.
Plan Vivo is a framework for projects developing local livelihoods and conserving and restoring local ecosystems. The Limay project provides wide ecological benefits through reforestation across the Platanares watershed.
Generating carbon compensation (offsets) in accordance with the Plan Vivo Standards involves rigorous measurement, monitoring and third party verification procedures.
Plan Vivo’s stakeholders and supporters include UNDP, WWF and Rainforest Alliance.
Local Connections - CLEVEL clients who become Carbon Balanced through our compensation portfolio are linked to this new project in San Juan de Limay, North West Nicaragua. Clients with a specific interest in reforestation can choose to achieve all of their compensation through this project. We can also link clients directly to individual families, providing photographs and google earth coordinates to their forestry plots.

Please contact us is you are interested in carbon compensation through this new project.
