This streamlined new service is a simple and cost effective way for smaller business to understand and actively engage with sustainability and carbon management.  Easily understood by people within the business, our service helps drive engagement with sustainability in general and with low carbon business opportunities in your markets.  CLEVEL carbon balancing works on a simple but rigorous four step process; understand, reduce, compensate and communicate.

Understand your carbon footprint

The first step is understanding your current carbon emissions. Using the CLEVEL Footprint Framework, we will work out your basic carbon footprint, based on energy and travel, including flights and company vehicles.

Reductions

As well as a target for reductions, we will work with you to suggest specific opportunities for carbon reduction.  This may involve monitoring consumption of certain appliances to put in place a switch down policy, installing your own power generation, or changing suppliers.

Compensation

We will allocate sufficient carbon compensation from CLEVEL’s Community Carbon Projects to fully compensate for your carbon footprint.  Our main project reforestation project is Limay.  It  is verified under the exceptional Plan Vivo Standard for community driven livelihood and ecosystem services.

Our investment helps small-scale farmers establish mixed species forest plantations on under used areas of their own land. The Limay project provides direct benefit to local people, taking into account the communities’ needs for food production, pastureland, timber and fuel wood. The 2011 planting season for the Limay Community Carbon Project was a great success. This year alone, 68 participating farming families worked hard to plant over 141,800 trees on 114 hectares of land.
